Somalia, Qatari agree boost bilateral relations

Somalia and Qatari have agreed to boost the bilateral relations following talks between the leaders of the two countries in Doha.

Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who is in Doha for two-day official visit has met with Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani of Qatar at the Amiri Diwan.

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Qatar and Somalia as well as ways to support and develop them in various fields – especially in development and economy, to serve the common interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.

President Mohamud has thanked and appreciated the Amir for the development support provided by Qatar to the Somali people.

The Qatari leader has affirmed his keenness to enhance brotherly relations between the two countries and looking forward to further cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by

Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, Qatari Education Minister Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi, Qatari Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi and several senior officials attended the talks session.

In attendance were also Somali Deputy Prime Minister Saleh Ahmed Jamea, Minister of Finance Dr Elmi Mahmud Nur, Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, Director of the State House of Somali President Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud, and a number of members of the official delegation attended.
